Coach Gray will enter his first season as head coach of Coyote Softball following his previous role as an assistant coaching stint at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas.
Paul Gray played one year at Lourdes University before stepping down due to injury and stay another year as a player/manager role and learned about the game from Head Coach Andy Hamm. This experience lead him into multiple coaching roles from 2018 to 2021 he helped develop the skills of high school athletes in Baseball, Basketball, Football and Golf at Leetonia High School In Leetonia, OH. Coach Gray was called upon to fill positions of Head Coach of Men's and Women's Golf, Assistant O-line/D-Line Coach for Football, Assistant Basketball/Head JV Coach, and Head Baseball Coach.
The Coyote softball program is anxious to return to the field this year after setbacks due to COVID-19 have caused the team to miss action over the past year and a half. Coach Gray has been diligent on the recruiting trail and building a strong roster of players for the Coyote's leading into this fall. Coach Gray will hit the ground running this fall, "I want to accomplish many things as the Head Coach of this program and seeing this team develop into a championship team is one of them. My year one goals are to bring the program back and off to quick start by building a winning culture and winning expectations in mind no matter if it's on the field or off."
The Cerro Coso fall semester begins on August 23, with fall softball workouts to immediately follow. The Coyotes will use that time to develop as a team through practices and intercollegiate scrimmages before the full season opens up in the spring. "I want to grow as coach and develop every year as well and learn new drills, techniques and push myself to be the best coach I can be! That result will drive the program upward and develop my players into quality athletes that play hard and work as team to get the job done!"
The Coyote Athletic Department is excited to welcome Coach Paul Gray to the team!
