The Cerro Coso Men's and Women's teams kicked of their 2024 cross country season at Ventura College. For the Women's team the Lady Coyotes we're lead by Alaina Check who set the Cerro Coso 5K record at 28:28 in her first race for the team. Genevieve Vogel also put in a strong performance running 30:37 only a minute off her Career Best.

The men's team was Led by Tristen Attakai. Tristen ran a time of 27:07 to lead the Coyote Men. He was followed by Julian Ramos with a time of 28:58, Leo Vazquez with a time of 35:42, and Andrew Quackenbush with a time of 35:49.

Coach Slaymaker's thoughts on the first event, "The team had a great first performance. They ran really hard on a course with a lot of hills. Our team ran with a lot of heart and determination and set a great tone for the season!"
