The Cerro Coso men's cross-country team competed at the Inland Empire Athletic Conference Championship held at Harry Griddin Park in San Diego. At the end of the four-mile meet, the Coyotes were on the podium with a third-place finish, scoring 73 points, 16 points ahead of fourth-place Crafton Hills.
Head coach Devin Fahey said on his team's third-place finish, "I couldn't be prouder of this team. This team got on the podium with a third-place finish by beating Crafton Hills by 16 points … I could not be prouder of how all controlled today and supported each other. Each of these men are champions in my book."
The Coyotes coach continued praising his runners, "Ryan (Morrison) was the first man overall to break up the Bernardino mob. Walker (Fleming) and Greg (Ostrom) found each other by the end to finish within one second and both join Ryan in the top 20. This team victory is due in large part to Leo (Vasquez) and Andrew (Quackenbush) doing their job as fourth and fifth man by beating Crafton's fourth and fifth and sixth. Leo also moved up a cheeky 14 spots form last season at this meet."
With a third-place finish, the Coyotes runners will compete in the SoCal Regional on Nov. 7 at Naval Training Center Park in San Diego. Another strong showing could have the Coyotes qualify for the 3C2A Cross-Country Championship on Nov. 22.
