As the regular season nears its conclusion, the Cerro Coso Community College baseball program finds itself in a familiar position—competing for postseason relevance with momentum building at the right time.

The Coyotes have clinched a second place finish within the IEAC. The regular season is capped with a 23-16 overall record and a 16-8 IEAC finish. With a few days to go for 3C2A opponents, the Coyotes are on stand by to see where they will seed in the Southern California region. Fortunately with the few games remaining before playoff brackets are finalized, Cerro Coso maintains postseason play firmly in their own control.

Positioning for the Playoffs

In California community college baseball, postseason qualification often depends heavily on conference standings and power ranking calibration. The team's recent trajectory suggests a group capable of making noise. Programs at this level often rely on pitching depth and timely hitting—two factors that typically determine postseason success. If Cerro Coso can carry momentum into the playoffs, they could enter regional play as a dangerous lower seed.

While it remains unclear exactly where Cerro Coso will fall in the final standings, the opportunity is there. In the unpredictable environment of junior college baseball, that alone makes them a program to watch as the postseason approaches.
